Ultraviolet C (UV-C) is a short wavelength (100-280 nm) radiation and is primarily used for the disinfection of air, surfaces and liquids from microbial contaminants[10]. To date the UV-C is the wavelength in germicidal applications and is also recommended by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.
**Please note: The current specifications of UV-C technology operates at the 254nm wavelength. It is important and imperative to know this is harmful to the human skin and eyes. This is NOT a lamp to install in your kitchen! Please check into UV-C standards and safety for full disclosure on the effects.

Can this be used in the hot air section of the furnace discharge or will it over heat in the environment of 160F?
Hello Cee,
The UV lamp works under 104F (40C). It won’t work under 160F (71C).
The germicidal effect is affected by temperature and humidity. Most performance is measured under 68F (20C) and 60% humidity.

I was going to install this bulb (uvc with o3) inside my furnace on the return side (cool air) is it safe to have it on 24/7 inside the furnace or is this lamp designed to use in intervals for short times. the light will not be exposed to people or pets it will be sealed in the duct work.

The UV lamp can continuously stay on. It is safe to keep it that way, in the aging test the manufacturer runs them for 500+ hours without removing power.Normally we need to calculate air flow speed and volume to figure out exactly how much UV power needs to be applied and for how long to efficiently kill germs in the air via an AC ventilator. This would allow the lamp to be powered off for durations of time. However, as stated, a continual light can be produced.
